The EVO Hoof Care Bar and Sole Rasp-1 'Original' This unique rasping tool has been designed specifically for use in cleaning the soles and bars of horses’ hooves. It's use promotes healthy sole horn on both shod and barefoot horses. The rasp has a convex or ‘half round’ surface and they are bent in a triangular U-shape. This form enables you to follow the natural curves of the sole and bars. The varied arcs of this shape give you differently curved working surfaces which enables you to smooth and remove excess horn from the various parts of the hoof’s sole and bars. The overall profile has been developed to provide you with a variety ways to hold the rasps, both in one and with two hands. Each way you grip the rasp gives you get a different type of leverage. In addition, the tang of the rasp has been turned into an exceptionally useful hoof pick to digging out dirt and crud; it easily breaks apart dirt packed into the sole and frog. The flat point scrapes soft horn from the sole. The narrow side of its tip effectively digs rocks out of the white line. The flat side quickly cleans the deep grooves beside the frog. This is a new tool that will require experimentation to be fully appreciated. Try different grips and strokes: pulling, rocking, digging, pushing, and moving the rasp in a diagonal or sideways motion. The more you use it the more ways you will discover to use it. Remember that all rasps are so sharp when new that they require a ‘break in’ period to move smoothly across the hoof horn. Caution: if you are uncertain about how much sole horn to remove, only shave off deteriorated material.

We are proud to present this Convex Rasping Tool made specifically for Removing Excess Horn from Bars and Sole.

Not only is this just a great product for everyone, but for those who have weak hands or find it difficult to use a hoof knife this product is ideal!  With this tool you don't have to worry about knife slipping and cutting something you didn't want cut and it does a great job of removing material from the underside of the hoof both safely and quickly. 

The SR-1 'Original' has standard pointed rasp teeth and white plastic handles. These teeth can 'grind down' bumps and ridges but leave a somewhat coarse finish to the sole horn. n The rasp is made from high grade steel and heat treated for maximum hardness.

The horn of the hoof sole in domestic horses often becomes deteriorated or grows excessively thick in some areas. The Bar & Sole Rasps provide you with an additional means of cleaning out decayed horn to promote optimal hoof health. This rasp has a varied curve that provides multiple ways to grip and apply the aspects of the rasp's cutting surface. This ideal shape allows you to clean both the broader arc of the sole and the tighter curves near the bars and heels. In addition, the rasp has a tapered point for picking, cleaning and scraping. It easily chops packed dirt from the sole and effectively scrapes grit out of the grooves along the sides of the frog or from cracks in the white line and wall. There are several ways to grip this rasp in both single and double handed grips. Using the point of the rasp will to clean the hoof prevents you from dulling your hoof knife, nippers, and flat hoof rasp on sand or gravel embedded in the white line. The Bar & Sole Rasps are easier to use than a hoof knife and give you more precise, gradual control as you remove unhealthy or excess horn from the sole and bars It can be used in either one or two handed grips.

SR-1 has standard pointed rasp teeth. These are particularly effective in grinding down rough sole horn and is ideal for hard, slick sole horn. It as hoof pick and scraping point for removing dirt and grit from bars, sole, white line, and wall cracks.  There are 3 different arcs on this rasp to enable you to pick the shape needed for the part of the sole you are working on and to find the best shape for different shapes of sole.
